Blogger Ethel Chisono Edwards arrested for insulting Zambian president

Ethel Chisono Edwards has been arrested for 18 months for insulting Zambian president Hakainde Hichilema after pleading guilty to a charge of hate speech. She is an American Zambian blogger popularly known for making critical remarks against the government. She was arrested upon arrival at the main airport in Lusaka in September. She had flown into the country to attend her grandmother's funeral. She had been in police custody since then and convicted on 2nd December under Zambia's security act and the Cybercrimes act.
